Working scientifically skills

It is possible to do some simple enquiries at home that help to develop working scientifically skills. Two activities that are easy to do at home are:

Skills wheels

While doing these enquiries and others, why not encourage children to keep track of the science skills they are using at home using the working scientifically wheels. They could even take photos or keep a science journal to show some of these skills in action.

Nature feature: Signs of Spring

Now spring has officially sprung there are many things to be on the lookout for. The Woodland Trust have created great nature detective identification and spotter sheets including ones for signs of spring.
With more time to look at nature in our immediate environment, now might be a good time to encourage children to start a nature diary.
