As a family we live, love, learn and celebrate with Jesus

Our Literacy Vision

We strive for excellence, enabling our children to achieve their highest potential in all areas of Literacy.
We want our children to be active learners with opportunities to discuss, explore, investigate and to be challenged.
We provide children with the set of skills to communicate effectively at home, at school and the wider world.
We want the children to gain a life-long love of reading and writing. We want our children to be fully immersed in the exciting world of words.

We welcomed Jack Trelawny who came to visit Years 2-6.  Jack Trelawny is an author, school visit, children 'edutainer' and screenwriter. His first book for children, 'Kernowland 1 The Crystal Pool', was published in 2005. In 2017, he started writing screenplays.

Jack was very entertaining and really engaged the children in the process of writing. As a school we are trying very hard to emphasis the joy of creative writing and Jack gave us professional tips and tricks to help us begin our writing. He told us to use photos and images and the W questions (who, what, where, when, why and how) to come up with different interesting ideas for stories. He told us about his love of history and his family and what gives him inspiration.

We were very lucky that he came with books to give to lucky children to win as prizes and he even signed them!

Please read below for more exciting activities, downloads and games that you can enjoy at home!

The first two chapters of the first book can be downloaded for class reading here

Some parents go to the ebook versions of Kernowland available on the internet (Amazon etc) and download the first few chapters to their Kindle, Ipad or computer, which are free to view.
